SoundSprout

What do we do?

At Sound Sprout Therapy, we don't just plant the seeds of communication through play-based in-home therapy for children – we also cultivate the garden of growth with our parent coaching. Our coaching sessions help parents become the expert gardeners, nurturing their child's communication skills to bloom and flourish at home. With Sound Sprout's guidance, parents can cultivate an environment where their child's communication abilities can blossom like vibrant, healthy sprouts in a well-tended garden.

Who are we?

Hi! I’m Callie, owner and speech therapist (SLP) at SoundSprout

  • My background is rooted with both a bachelor's and master's in speech-language pathology from Eastern Michigan University.

My experience spans across elementary and preschool settings, as well as private outpatient pediatric clinics. I've worked extensively with differently abled children, including those with ASD, cognitive impairment, hearing impairment, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and more. I also have specialized knowledge and interest in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices. I currently work in an elementary school supporting a diverse caseload of students.

My particular interests lie in neurodivergent learners, gestalt language processors, emergent language, and early literacy, where I've developed a deep understanding of how communication develops and flourishes.

I practice play-based therapy because it's not just fun—it's fundamental to effective intervention. By integrating play into therapy sessions, I create engaging and natural environments where children can learn and grow organically. It's akin to cultivating fertile soil for development, where every interaction, or ingredient, is purposeful and productive. Ultimately, play-based therapy allows us to sow the seeds of progress in a manner that is both enjoyable and effective for children and families alike.

  • With over seven years of experience as a nanny before becoming an SLP, I bring a unique perspective and deep understanding of family dynamics into my work as a speech therapist.

My time spent nurturing and caring for children in their homes has provided invaluable insight into the real-life challenges and joys of raising a family. This firsthand experience enables me to connect with families on a personal level and tailor my therapy approach to meet their specific needs and lifestyle. Whether it's managing daily routines, navigating sibling dynamics, or fostering a supportive environment for growth, my background as a nanny enriches my ability to provide holistic support to both children and their families.

  • As a passionate gardener, avid reader, and culinary enthusiast skilled in canning, I'm dedicated to savoring life's simple pleasures. Whether I'm tending to my garden, whipping up a new recipe, or enjoying quality time with my beloved dogs, partner, and cherished nieces - fostering connections and living a vibrant life is at the heart of everything I do.
